I love sushi and I think I know why.
Apart from the great taste and it being a healthy option compared to most takeaways, I have a huge admiration for food I can’t make at home.
I love pasta but I rarely dine out for it because I always come away thinking I could make something like it myself.
But with sushi it’s an art as well as a culinary skill. And there is a lot more involved than following a recipe. You need to know all about the right types of fish, the right types of rice, the right tools for the job. And in my few failed attempts at replicating sushi at home I’ve realised that it’s just one of those things it’s best buying in.
