Exit through the Ludlow Street Food Court

Exit through the Ludlow Street Food Court

Exit through the food court.

Indeed, the vacant Ludlow Street lot made famous by Banksy over a decade ago is now a mini food court. Under the radar, too.

The first day of operations at 159 Ludlow was apparently Friday, including two food trucks, produce vendors, and picnic table seating. One of the vendors is something called Chupa Cabra Cafe.

Neighbors were apparently blindsided by the installation, especially after a similar battle had been fought three years ago to keep Schaller & Weber from operating a food truck onsite. We’re told that no residents, block associations, or Community Board 3 were approached about this enterprise.

As if anticipating pushback, hours seems to be capped at 8:00pm. (Yet, mysteriously the gates were padlocked on Saturday.)
